Computer modelling may be used to calculate noise levels at a receiver point instead of using measurements which can sometimes be prohibitively expensive and, in some instances, it may be technically difficult to isolate different sources of noise. It also provides a means of calculating the acoustic characteristics of a room/system when in the development stage.
